Belvidere, IL March 20th, 2009 -- The makeover was executed by renowned design consultant Peter Millard along with the generous collaboration from Belvedere LLC and general contractor Gowers Renovations, whom Kay recruited to help out. The redesign consisted of raising the salon ceilings, tearing out the old dryer room, replacing all existing cabinetry, chairs and workstations, and adding new pieces including minimal and sleek ottomans, sconces, and imagery to create ample space and a warm, inviting environment. An open color lab now also adds to the salon’s fresh and sleek look. The total renovation is valued at $65,000, including Redken’s $20,000 contribution and the donations from Belvedere, Gowers Renovations and several other local businesses.

Millard loved working on the renovation with the Fifth Avenue Salon team and was able to show them how their salon space can affect their business “Through this renovation, Fifth Avenue Salon was able to see how simplifying the salon space and an effective retail layout can boost sales,” says Millard. “It also establishes a professional and beautiful environment that helps in attracting new clients and in building the business.”

The equipment donation from Belvedere Inc. was a key factor in the renovation. "We jumped at the chance to work on this great opportunity with Peter Millard and Redken" says Craig Christiansen, marketing manager of Belvedere. "The process was seamless and in the end, Fifth Avenue Salon now has a space with beautiful high-end chairs and cabinets that will last.”
